Established in February 2009, WE DISTRIBUTION LIMITED was founded by international acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Peter Ho-sun Chan (Comrades, Almost a Love Story (1996), Perhaps Love (2005), The Warlords (2007)) . It serves as the sales outfit for Chan’s own production company WE PICTURES LIMITED.

WE DISTRIBUTION has distributed critically acclaimed and commercially successful films in various genres offering different kinds of pleasures to the audiences. Films include cross-genre action films Bodyguards and Assassins (2009), Wu Xia (2011) and The Guillotines (2012); dramas American Dreams in China (2013), Dearest (2014) and Soul Mate (2016); comedies Mr. and Mrs. Incredible (2011) and Goldbuster (2017); and romantic comedy This Is Not What I Expected.

WE DISTRIBUTION’s first sales title is the historical action blockbuster Bodyguards and Assassins (2009), winning 37 film awards in the Great China region, including 8 awards out of 10 nominations at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards (Best Film, Best Director, etc.). Other critically acclaimed titles include the only Chinese language film selected for the 64th Cannes Film Festival Wu Xia (2011), voted a top 10 film in 2012 by Time magazine; top 5 grossing Chinese language film of the year, American Dreams in China (2013), screened at over 10 international film festivals such as the Festival do Rio and Stockholm International Film Festival; and Official Selection of 71st Venice International Film Festival, Dearest (2014), received more than 15 film awards including Best Actress at the 34th Hong Kong Film Awards and Audience Award at the 16th Tokyo FILMeX International Film Festival.

In recent years, WE DISTRIBUTION has introduced the new generation filmmakers to the international market. Soul Mate (2016), directed by Derek Kwok-cheung Tsang, made history of winning the unprecedented duo Best Actress Awards at 53rd Golden Horse Awards. The film also received the Best Leading Actress and Film of Merit at the 23rd Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards as well as the ABC Award at the 12th Osaka Asian Film Festival. This Is Not What I Expected (2017) is the directorial debut of Derek Hui with his distinguished career as a film editor. The film was selected for the World Focus session at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival and gained Best New Director nominations at the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards and 12th Asian Film Awards.

The latest presenting titles include Iwai Shunji’s first Chinese language title Last Letter (2018), the first production of Derek Kwok-cheung Tsang and Jojo Yuet-chun Hui's Goodfellas Pictures Limited, Better Days (2019), Taiwanese filmmaker Andrew Chien's Your Love Song (2020) and Derek Hui’s second directorial film Coffee or Tea? (2020).  Better Days (2019) starring Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Yee, which is the first Hong Kong film to be nominated for the International Feature Film at the Academy Awards in almost 3 decades. The film won 8 awards from the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress etc. , 2 out of 5 nominations at the 14 Asian Film Awards, 3 awards including Best Film at the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Awards 2019, and Film of Merit at 26th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards.  It is also 69th Berlinale Generation 14plus Competition film.  

WE DISTRIBUTION also handles Peter Ho-sun Chan's upcoming directorial worksLeap (2020) on Women's National Volleyball Team of China, and Li Na (working title) a biographical drama of the first Asian tennis player to win a Grand Slam title.   Leap  is China's official entry for the 93rd Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category.  It received 3 awards at the 27th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and 4 awards at 2020 Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Gong Li).
